When Elder Okeyo of Nairobi Central SDA Church says 1.45pm, its just that! The concert was to kick off with the participating individuals groups and choirs being seated in the Church at 1.45pm sharp for registration and preparation. The entire Church was engulfed in a festive mood of purple and blue decorations a conglomeration of similarly coloured balloons. This, coupled with the high turnout and expectant spirits of the congregation was a sure recipe for a successful Concert.
It all started off well....as we were treated to wonderful items, including a presentation from the Shephard's Voices, another brother group to In-Tune. Actually, they were and still are more of our inspiration as we look up to them in our musical endeavours...okay enough about blowing their trumpet. The Church Choir were totally on point in their items...and the spice of it was their immaculate black and sky blue uniform...it was a spectacle to behold.
The Guest Choir of the day, Mathare North Choir...arrived abit late but nonetheless gave a sterling performance...their greatest hit being a dholuo spiritual song which had the congregation ever so excited. The not so appealing side of the entire concert was the PA System which kept on failing with what seemed like belchs and mini explosions as the feedback was unbearable, otherwise it was a very long wait for In-Tune to perform.
Esther and her sisters, the Mokayas, gave a wonderful little number as the Elder's Voice, Martha Kajwang and Kepha and Lydia followed suits with sweet renditions...at 6.00pm sharp In-Tune took to the pulpit and sang....it was a wonderful...albeit long, Music Sabbath. God bless you.
