I truly hope that wasn't a pop statement (the title I mean) 'coz if it is, someone please tell me quick, I've read alot about pop culure and its influence on Christianity! Anyway, I meant to insinuate that someone else has been set apart from In-Tune, not by choice, but again by academics...yep , you guessed it, Chris.
The last we heard, he was safe and sound on a bus headed for Western Kenya to the Masinde Muliro University to do a course in Commerce. God be with you Chris.Backtracking to Sunday, our final day so far with him, we met as the guys at Church for some voice practice....but ended up starting with a game of touch in the parking lot of the Church; Ted, James, Tichy, Chris, Ronnie, Bernard, Jona and myself. After a prolonged brisk but competitive game, we settled down to practice a few songs as we waited for Craig, Joseph and Edwin since George and Andy would not be present had had excused themselves. We went through the songs 'Imagine A scene in Heaven', "Hush', 'Growing Up in the Lord', 'My Lord and My God' and 'Emergency'.
Once the concentration span had dissipated and we were over and done with the singing, we made our way to the Central Park playground to continue with our game of the good old game of rugger. We were later joined by Joseph, an AMO Junior pal-Davie and lastly, a complete stranger who decided to join us for the game. While we were playing, we could see a group of four praise and worshipping not very far from where we were and agreed we would, afterwards, stop by and sing with them. It was interesting to see Ted and James show off their rugby prowess.
....and yet again soon we grew weary of the action and made our way to the City Centre for a late lunch in honour of Chris. Packing up, we took a detour towards the people who were singing, and were now deep in a discussion. The closer we went is when we realised that they were actually deaf and some blind...and thought it to just say hi and go our way.
The lunch was at Sanford's Fish and Chips, and the meal was delightingly scrumptuous, a mixture of bhajia, chips, sausages, kebabs and soft drinks. Wouldn't we all love such a send-off! God bless you Chris as you pursue your higher education and beyond.
