On a pal's invitation, Kim of our brother group 'Harmony', we attended an SDA Music Day at Alliance High School on 26th July 2008 in the morning. The In-Tuners had agreed to be early birds and catch the worm at Bata Hilton bright and early at 7.30am, and true to their word, majority did, albeit afew like Bernard who interpreted clear instructions to mean we were rendezvouing at Church....thus, we waited a while for him. At 8.00am sharp, we were at the bus station, in a matatu and ready to disembark for our trip, minus Pharaohs Andy and Joseph and Craig...
The trip to Alliance...or 'Bush', as its more popularily known, was rather uneventful, save for an awkward occurence where a lady passenger got herself involved in a verbal onslaught with the conductor of the vehicle, infront of a highly energized crowd. Bush is about one hours drive from the city centre, though the return journey takes a lot less time because of the traffic flow. Having never ben to the 'Great' Alliance, it was an experience for me as we found our way out of a tricky situation with the watchman, and wound through the wide pebble pathway towards the administration block and detoured to the ornately built Chapel.
The program had barely began...thank God as we were the first to register ourselves on the list. Kim told us that the event had been organized by the old girls of Alliance Girl's and a varietyof music groups and schools were to attend. It was therefore a God-given privilege to be the first off to present infront of the congreation, though the chilly weather had its toll on my voice....Tichy, Chris, James and the bases also did their parts pretty well...
We hang on there for another hour or so where we presented once more and had to leave 5minutes into the speaker's sermon if we were to reach back at church in time for the afternoon concert. It was a lovely little affair and one I'm sure In-Tune won't forget in a long time. We will however have to go back to Alliance and spend more time with the students there on a Sabbath of course...
