Picking up from where I left off on the previous post, where I said the fun was just about to begin...it was time to make our way to Joseph's crib for the long-time planned In-Tuner sleepover. I've got weird looks from a number of people when telling them that, but believe you me, it only adds to the uniqueness of being In-Tune...when we say we are as tight as brothers, we mean just that!
Jamo on the other hand was to miss out on the whole thing, as well as Craig and Ted Okoth due to their diversity of reasons, but Jamo was never one to let things go just like that...he persuaded the rest of us for a stopover in town to have a late meal before we headed over to Joseph's in Buruburu Estate. It was admittedly fun, as I also got the opportunity to run into my cousin Alan, who was kind enough to buy me the meal at Moi Avenue's Caprice Fries outfit...everything had started out rather great...oh yessiree!
During the meal...Chris and Jose had all sorts of jokes as has become the norm, and all Jamo and Edwin could think about was....you guessed it....food! Have you ever seen a lawn mower at work? Thats just the rough idea! Tichy the whole time was making fun of me for a number of reasons which he always seems to effortlessly come up with, while Joseph and Chris chose to reminisce about the weeks occurrences and all that had happened at the Rally...Jamo reminding us of just what exactly transpired during the moments of interaction in the evening. It was a satisfactory affair when we parted ways with Jamo at the Ambassador Hotel in downtown Nairobi as he headed for Westlands and we took a number 58.
At Joseph's, we were welcomed in by his sisters Evelyn and Antonina and his 2 year old nephew Jamari who was lavishing all the attention everyone was giving him. Evelyn was cooking for us chapati and some kind of stew while Antonina was entertaining a friend of hers. Joseph took the liberty of settling us in...as guys just chatted away as if we all lived there....it was quite interesting actually. Being around 8.00pm, I fought for us to watch a South American soap on telly, but to futility...the chat prevailed and before we knew it, food was ready...
There was a special request however, before we dug in, that we would sing the hosts an item...which we did of course, much to their delight...then it was 'all hands on deck' for what the chef of the evening had to offer. Props to Evelyn though...the meal was absolutely scrumptious. Knowing Jonathan's reputation of un-remorseful demolition of grub...nobody was left behind in serving up before it was too late. His title...would however be stripped off him by Benard before the evening was over.
She (Evelyn) vacated the premises a while later...along with Antonina and her pal...and the whole house was left to us....then struck the chapati saga, where the dough specialties started to disappear one by one...and we all know the only guy who carried a bag to the sleep over...no finger pointed.
After ravaging the food...we settled down for the movie that was showing on NTV...and with the session..., laxity showed its ugly face when Jonathan Makori was the first to suddenly doze off.
We got a grizzly sms from Jamo who informed us of the demise of one of his neighbours, which left him in shocked and we made a point of getting back to him, encouraging him...and consequently praying for him and his friend's family in that time of strife. We could not let our bonding spirits be dampened however, but having reflected on the news for a while, we got back to the artificial itinerary for the night. The movie was great...and immediately afterward, Joseph put on another superb latest flick which was the best of the night.
When the movies were over and done with...and we belatedly realized we had a shortfall of entertainment...we took to a game of Monopoly around 1.00am. Chris had no idea whatsoever of the game...and retired to wash dishes dutifully with our host. Nothing would deter us and the games went on. Chris and Jona having long ago drifted into the arms of Morpheus, the game ironically took us all the way till 6.00 in the morning where..rather befittingly...i was crowned the winner, but do I say! As the rest were waking up to a new day...we were winding up our spoiling of Monopoly. With the rays of sunlight came another movie and more In-Tune gibberish until the next thing we knew was that it was time to graciously leave, having emptied the place of all else edible....it was a befitting experience if I do say so myself.
