The sabbath had been rather chilly that day, but nonetheless, the sun was a bout to settle down on a superb day that had seen In-Tune have one of its most successfull pratcices EVER! It was therefore also a coincidence that most of the guys had dished out their best suits and ties, and were definitely clad to the nines. (I'm not saying that In-Tuners aren't immaculately dressed on Saturdays now....they are indeed some of the best dressed guys in Church....okay thats a little biased) Moving on,
Chris, Joseph, Edwin and myself had left the rest of the guys socializing in Church and decided to make our way to town, as we were used to...little did we know of what was in store for us, and what an eventful evening that would be! Reaching the CBD( Central Business District), I decided to take what we call our 'Little Pit Stop' which is at the Bakery just next to the KCB Bank on Kenyatta Avenue. The rest of the guys chose to stay in the side lines as I purchased a chocolate doughnut. A group of girls walked into the bakery and began to window shop, though I took no notice at first and went back to them...
It was at this point when Joseph finally recognized a couple of the girls and said hi. Being the none intrusive gentlemen that we are( but do I say hehe) we decided to give Joseph some room and walked off unhurriedly using the same route we always took towards 20th Century Fox. After crossing the entire Kenyatta Avenue Street, we were blatantly shocked to hear our names being called out in the most unceremonious of fashions....by you guesed it, Joseph.
Slowly and unwillingly turning back to confirm who it was, we saw him headed in our direction with the bevy of beauties and asking us to wait awhile as he and the girls caught up. Finally they arrived as we stood motionless and the introductions were made. We then proceeded at a friendly gait while we intermingled with the eight and got to know each other. We shockingly found out that these girls are a singing group known as "The Petals", and that they regularly conduct practices at the garage of one of the girl's houses.
They sing acappella gospel but not the barbershop kind, just an intricate interwind of sweet melodies...and then we decided, impromptu, to do the craziest of things! We sang right there in the middle of the street, infront of passers-by! The Petals sang a tune first, which left us boggled, and in turn we sang one of our songs for them. I have to admit, it felt like something out of the movies, but that was that.
We got to know more of each other and what exactly our groups do, and by the time we parted ways, we promised to do a collaboration. It is indeed rewarding to meet others of your kind who share the same passion and zeal for what you believe in and do...we'll see yet whether the promise will be fulfilled.
