IN-TUNE A CAPPELLA

In-tune with Christ both spiritually and vocally!

After experiencing a blackout at Moi Nairobi Girls' School, In Tune was certainly not willing to go through a similar experience any time soon courtesy of a girls' school mixup! Guys like Anderson had fervently vowed never to set foot in a girls school ever again, but as they sat....God has his own ways, and when He pulls through, He does it in style...

So the Sabbath of 22nd March had started out in an unusually boring fashion. When Jamo is feeling a bit under the weather, Chris is not acting up and Joseph is quiet, you know somerthing is definitely wrong! To make matters worth, the guys were unusually late....did I mention Joseph was quite? A miracle! Anyway, the way things were going, I wondered how the afternoon practice would go down.

2.00pm found us huddled at our space in the Kindergarten class of MAPS( Maxwell Adventist Primary) and despite the underlying currents, we were commited to make this show work. A fwew minutes on and it was crystal clear that this would end in either of two ways. Disbanding the group, or doing away with the practice for the day. Of course the former would never happen!

Then came the news that would automatically revamp and re-energize the whole crew! The Pangani Girls' Elder came to us and requested us to accompany him to the school in order to run the afternoon program.

Now, for anyone who knows anything about Kenyan high schools, and for that matter Kenyan girl's high schools, you have to know that Pangani girl's is the most difficult school to get in to, even on an outreach ministry such as ours. Now if in Moi Girls we were kicked out, you'd expect in Pangani we would be bundled out! This was not to be however...packed into thre sedans, we set out to the school and were welcomingly received, both by the watchman at the gate to the premises, and by the eager beaver students who, I am guessing, were thrilled to have visitors.( Thats if those girls peeping by the window were anything to go by.)

The room they use for their services is a pleasant but small space, though if you ask me, it is adequate for them. There was a welcoming karma in the room as the girls wasted no time to get us into their mood of fellowship and warmness. The Elder inherited the floor and did mild introductions, afterwhich he left the floor for us. Little did we know this would mark the beginning of one of the best and most successful ministries we have seen yet!

The In Tune trademark song, 'Higher Perspective', set the ball rolling for the whole service, which transformed into a Sing-spiration. The girls were treated to the goofiness of Tichi and Chris, who re-invented themselves rather comically, into high school goofs! A couple of girls were celebrating their birthday, not literally though, and the pair treated them to a good acappella attempt of 'Happy Birthday'. They started another rendition, which the rest of the guys got the hang of, but when we stood to go and join them, they went and sat down!

We thank God for the wonderful time we had at the school and for the wonderful gift God has given us to spread His word...the gift of Music. We pray that whenever we perform, the listeners will look beyond the voice, and to the core of the message.

George, where are those photos?

About this blog

Keep In Tune in your prayers as we struggle to reform ourselves after the mini-breakup we had. Some of our members left the group, but we've worked around it all and are getting back on our feet. We are continuing with our schools ministry and outreach and welcome and contributions and suggestions you may have...

Sabato

Well...here are the lyrics to the song 'Sabato'. In-Tune's purely original piece;

(prelude humming)

Mola wangu, nakusifu siku ya leo,
usifiwe milele duniani kote,
twakupenda na mioyo yetu yote,
usifiwe...,Mungu wetu..., hasa Sabato...

chorus
siku teule... siku takatifu..., iliyotakaswa...
sabato*2
Rabuka Rabana Moliwa*2
twakupenda twakusifu kila siku...

chorus*2

(humming by base*2)
(humming in unison)
